Russian drones have caused significant damage to a bridge in the village of Mayaky in Ukraine’s Odesa region, according to Ukrainian sources.
Following a test strike by the Geran-2 system on December 18, no major damage was initially reported. However, new strikes have reportedly inflicted more serious harm, raising concerns over the structure’s stability. Continued attacks could force authorities to rely on temporary crossings.
The situation has been compared to the Antonivskyi Bridge over the Dnipro, which, despite not being destroyed, sustained substantial damage from GMLRS rockets launched by HIMARS multiple rocket launchers.
The ongoing repairs made passage across the bridge unsafe and compelled Russian forces to use pontoon and ferry crossings, complicating logistics.
