Russian drones invade airspace of NATO countries
09 September 2024 16:37
Latvia's Defence Ministry has said that the drone flew into the country's airspace from Belarus and crashed near Rezekne, a town of about 25,000 people about 55km west of Russia and 75km from Belarus.
Another member of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) whose borders were violated was Romania, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
According to the Romanian Defence Ministry, a Russian UAV had entered the airspace from Ukraine. An F-16 was put in the air. Romania shares a 650-kilometre border with Ukraine.
Poland also recorded at least two cases of violations of its airspace by Russian missiles or drones attacking Ukraine during the war, the last time in December.
