Russian Embassy in Iran urges tourists to exercise caution
The Russian Embassy in Tehran has advised Russian tourists travelling to the Islamic Republic of Iran to refrain from taking photos or videos.
According to a warning on its Telegram channel, the Russian embassy strongly advises citizens travelling to Iran to strictly follow local laws and exercise caution and prudence, Caliber.Az reports.
The notice did not clarify the reasons for these recommendations or mention whether similar incidents have occurred recently.
The website of the Russian Consulate General in Rasht, Iran, notes that photography and video recording are prohibited at government institutions, foreign missions, and military facilities in Iran.
Warning signs are posted at these locations, and violations may lead to arrest.
However, photographing city landmarks, historical monuments, and “scenes of everyday life” is allowed.
Since 2023, Russia and Iran have operated a mechanism for group visa-free tourist trips. It applies to organized tourist groups (from 5 to 50 people) for a duration of up to 15 days.
