Russian Federation Council speaker plans official visit to Armenia
Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia, is set to embark on an official visit to Armenia with the aim of revitalizing interstate relations.
Matviyenko and Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan discussed the details of the visit during a phone conversation, which was initiated by Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
“The two interlocutors also addressed aspects of the upcoming official visit of the Federation Council Speaker to Yerevan, following the invitation of the Armenian counterpart, in the context of the need to infuse fresh momentum into Russia-Armenia relations,” the Russian Federation Council stated in its release.
Matviyenko emphasized that "the visit requires thorough preparation."
The exact date of the visit has yet to be announced.
The report also highlighted that during their conversation, both sides exchanged views on the international and regional agenda, "viewed through the lens of parliamentary diplomacy."
