Russian intelligence reveales who the EU considers Zelenskyy's possible successors

11 December 2023 13:07

The European Union (EU) considers the commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, and the chief of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, as possible successors to Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Ukrainian president.

High-ranking officials of the leading Western countries are increasingly discussing the need to replace Zelenskyy, Gazeta.ru reports, citing the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reports.

"Possible successors to Zelenskyy as head of state are being considered. In particular, on the sidelines of the meeting of EU foreign ministers held in Brussels in November this year, it was noted that such could be one of the high-ranking Ukrainian military, for example, the commander-in-chief of the AFU V. Zaluzhnyi or the chief of the main department of intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine K. Budanov," the message said.

There are three more people on the list. They are the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, former presidential office adviser Oleksiy Arestovich and Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, the SVR said.
