Russian MFA spox claims Ukraine planned assassination attempt on Putin
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova alleged that Ukraine was involved in an unsuccessful assassination attempt on Russian President Vladimir Putin, with direct participation and financing from Anglo-Saxon countries.
Zakharova made these statements during a briefing, citing an interview with Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"Attention has been drawn to the revelations of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Kirill Budanov. He admitted in an interview with a Ukrainian publication on 13 July to futile attempts to assassinate the Russian president. There is no doubt that such crimes were planned and financed with the direct involvement of Anglo-Saxon countries. And not a single atrocity, not a single terrorist act against the civilian population, against representatives of the authorities, has never, ever during this period been condemned by the Western countries in their national capacity or collectively," she said.
