Russian MFA: US strikes on Yemen - perversion of UN resolutions

Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova has condemned the US and UK’s airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.

The attack is a perversion of the UN Security Council’s resolutions, Zakharova wrote in Telegram.

“US airstrikes on Yemen are another example of the Anglo-Saxons’ perversion of the UN Security Council resolutions and disregard for international law to escalate the situation in the region for destructive purposes,” she noted.

The US and UK attacked Yemeni Houthi targets 60 times on January 12 morning. Head of US Central Command, Gen. Michael Kurilla said that the US and UK tried to attack radars, air defence systems, as well as warehouses and launch sites for drones and missiles. After the strikes, Russia requested to hold an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.
