Russian military utilizes Irbis radar for enhanced operational precision in Ukraine war

The Russian Defence Ministry has highlighted the deployment of the Irbis radar station by its North troop group during military operations in Ukraine.

This sophisticated radar system, capable of reconnaissance up to 150 kilometers into enemy territory, plays a pivotal role in detecting various enemy fire units and aerial targets, including drones, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

It significantly improves upon previous models with enhanced maneuverability, quicker deployment and withdrawal times, and extended reconnaissance capabilities.

According to the ministry's press release, the Irbis radar has successfully thwarted multiple attempts by Ukrainian forces to target civilians by swiftly identifying incoming missiles and relaying crucial information to air defense units for immediate response. The radar's integration with artillery units and radio reconnaissance teams enables precise targeting adjustments, boosting the effectiveness of counter-battery operations. Operating under challenging conditions, including continuous threat exposure, requires high psychological stability and rigorous training from the radar's crew members.
