Russian official: Strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities violate international law
Russia demands an immediate end to military actions against Iran and a return to diplomacy to prevent catastrophic consequences for the region, Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organisations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanoм said.
During a special session of the IAEA Board of Governors on the situation surrounding Iran, Ulyanov said that discussions about Iran’s nuclear programme were being used as a cover for an operation aimed at “overthrowing the legitimate government and undermining the country’s statehood,” Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He strongly condemned the military operation launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, warning that the strikes’ consequences have already affected other countries in the region.
He emphasised that any strikes on nuclear facilities violate international law, the UN Charter, and resolutions of both the IAEA and the UN Security Council. He further stressed that no Iranian nuclear facilities should be targeted, highlighting the presence of Russian personnel at the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
