Russian troops shoot down several Ukrainian drones over Volgograd
The Russian Defence Ministry has announced the successful interception and downing of four Ukrainian drones over the Volgograd Region.
According to the Ministry, on the night of March 7 to 8, Russian air defence forces shot down 11 aircraft-type drones over the territory of Volgograd Region, Caliber.Az reports, citing RBC.
Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov provided additional details, specifying that the drones were eliminated over the Gorodishchensky district, situated near Volgograd and close to the city's western border. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or damage resulting from the drone interceptions, Governor Bocharov confirmed.
The Ministry later updated the information, revealing that around 7:00, four more drones were successfully neutralized over the same region. Additionally, one drone was reported to have been neutralized over the Belgorod region during the night.
Belgorod Region has been a frequent target of drone attacks, with the recent incident on March 7 resulting in a civilian being injured in Naumovka village due to a kamikaze drone attack. The victim was subsequently hospitalized with shrapnel wounds in the abdomen.
The Volgograd region experienced a drone attack in early February, leading to a fire at LUKOIL's Volgograd oil refinery. The fire was swiftly extinguished on the same day, February 3.
On March 7, another drone attack occurred, causing an incident at a blast furnace at Severstal in Cherepovets, Vologda Region. The acting governor of the region, Georgy Filimonov, clarified that the incident did not impact the operation of the furnace.
