Satellite intelligence claims $1 billion in Iranian oil returned after US interdictions

27 April 2026 14:11

Maritime intelligence firm TankerTrackers.com has claimed that satellite imagery confirms major disruptions to Iranian crude oil shipments following U.S. naval operations.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the company said cargoes worth approximately $1.05 billion were forced back to Iran after what it described as rapid interdictions by the U.S. Navy, Caliber.Az reports.

It also said the U.S. Coast Guard had seized an estimated $380 million worth of Iranian crude in the Indian Ocean, with those shipments reportedly being redirected toward the United States.

Similar recent reports have described U.S. operations involving boarding and seizure of tankers accused of carrying sanctioned Iranian crude.
