Saudi Arabia announces removal of barriers surrounding Kaaba

The barriers placed around the Kaaba as part of the coronavirus measures were removed simultaneously with the start of the Umrah season.

The Haremeyn Affairs Presidency announced that the barriers surrounding the Kaaba were lifted, TRT Haber reports.

The Haremeyn Affairs Presidency also shared images of the efforts to remove the barriers on its social media account.

Abdurrahman es-Sudeysi, Head of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi (Haremeyn) Affairs and the Imam of the Kaaba , said in a written statement that "with the start of the Umrah season, the removal of the barriers surrounding the Kaaba has been approved."

Sudeysi said that the decision to remove the barriers around the Kaaba will make it easier for Muslims to perform their prayers, especially during the Umrah period.
