Saudi Arabia has announced the expulsion of five Iranian diplomats in response to attacks on its territory, the kingdom’s Foreign Ministry said in a post on X on March 22.
According to the post, Iran’s military attaché, his assistant, and three other diplomatic staff must leave the country within 24 hours and have been declared persona non grata.
The ministry said the decision was made in response to “clear attacks by Iran against Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and several Arab and Islamic states.”
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry emphasised that the kingdom “unequivocally condemns Iran’s actions” and is prepared to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, territory, airspace, and the interests of its citizens.
