Saudi Arabia, Jordan call for immediate global action to halt Israeli aggression in Gaza
The Saudi Foreign Ministry has called for immediate international intervention to stop Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, which it has condemned as crimes against civilians.
The officials denounced Israel's renewed military aggression, particularly airstrikes targeting densely populated civilian areas, emphasizing the vulnerability of those caught in the violence, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Riyadh urged the international community to fulfill its obligations under international law and take swift action to halt the attacks, which have further worsened the already severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Saudi government also expressed deep concern over the suffering of the Palestinian people, referring to them as brotherly and calling for urgent and decisive steps to alleviate their hardships.
In a similar vein, Sufyan Qudah, a spokesperson for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, urged the international community to pressure Israel into honoring the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. He also called for the opening of checkpoints for humanitarian aid deliveries and the restoration of electricity to the enclave.
"Qudah stressed that the international community must take both legal and moral responsibility, pressuring Israel to immediately cease its aggression, ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire, and facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid," the ministry wrote on Facebook.
Jordan's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Israel's resumption of military operations in Gaza and warned that continued aggression could destabilise the region.
On March 18, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of large-scale airstrikes against Hamas positions in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister's office explained that the strikes were a response to Hamas’ refusal to accept proposals made during negotiations mediated by US special envoy Steve Witkoff. According to the latest figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry, the death toll from this latest escalation has surpassed 400, with at least 562 others injured.
