Saudi Arabia says it intercepted Houthi missiles and drones

A Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted missiles and drones launched towards the kingdom, blaming Yemen’s Houthis for the attacks. Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki announced the interceptions in a post on X.

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence issued emergency warnings overnight for the cities of Khamis Mushait and Abha, but not the capital Riyadh, according to Reuters.

Shortly before the interceptions were reported, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman said on X that he had discussed continued joint efforts to counter attacks against the kingdom with Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir during a meeting in Riyadh.

The Houthis intensified their attacks on Saudi Arabia in July, when they announced a maritime blockade of the kingdom and targeted Saudi vessels in the Red Sea.

According to Reuters, the attacks have primarily targeted Saudi cities, energy infrastructure and maritime shipping.
