Saudi commercial vessel attacked in Bab el-Mandeb Strait

A Saudi commercial vessel came under rocket fire while transiting the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The attack was carried out by forces affiliated with Yemen’s military. Three crew members were reportedly killed, including two Pakistani nationals and one Indonesian national, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions around the Bab el-Mandeb, a strategically important maritime passage connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and a key route for international trade.

Threats to commercial shipping in the area have increased amid the latest escalation involving Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement. The Houthis have previously threatened to target or restrict shipping linked to Saudi Arabia and have reported attacks on vessels associated with the kingdom.
