Saudi Arabia, Pakistan reaffirm commitment to joint defence agreement

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation under a joint defence agreement, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met in New York ahead of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

The two ministers discussed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation under the pact, as well as promoting regional peace, stability and security.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a bilateral defence pact last year, followed by a trilateral Mecca defence agreement last month involving Türkiye.

Dar expressed Pakistan’s “steadfast solidarity with the Kingdom” and condemned recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has faced attacks from Yemen’s Houthi group in recent weeks, with the two sides engaging in aerial, missile and drone attacks amid the ongoing US-Iran war.
