SBU charges Poltava mayor with disclosing information on Ukrainian troops

Ukraine Security Service (SBU) has approved information that Poltava Mayor Oleksandr Mamai, who is suspected of spreading information about the deployment of Ukrainian troops, faces up to 12 years in prison.

Earlier on Thursday, Strana’s Ukrainian edition reported that the mayor of Poltava Mamai was suspected by representatives of the SBU for spreading unauthorized information about the movement of Ukrainian troops.

“Based on the materials of the SBU, the mayor of Poltava was informed of suspicion of spreading unauthorized information about the deployment of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was committed under martial law,” the statement on the SBU’s Telegram channel said.

According to the ministry, the suspect disseminated data that was not made public, neither by the General Staff of the Ukrainian troops, nor by the Ministry of Defence or other authorized state bodies. The SBU noted that Mamai faces up to 12 years in prison.
