Second magnetic storm of the month hits Earth
Russian scientists reported the onset of a new magnetic storm on Earth on February 15, 2026.
According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory, the second magnetic storm of February began overnight, ranging from weak to moderate intensity, Caliber.Az reports.
The peak occurred at 07:00 Astana time, reaching G1.3 on a scale from 1 to 5.
Astronomers noted that the previous weak-level storm occurred on February 5, marking a 10-day interval.
“So far, February 2026 appears calmer than the previous month. In January, as previously reported, a decade record was set for the number of days with magnetic storms, with most activity concentrated in the second half of the month,” the specialists said.
The current period of disturbances may last up to two days, with uneven impact: occasional spikes and short storms are expected, interspersed with relatively calm intervals, according to the forecasts. A surge above G2 (moderate) is considered unlikely.
