Security in Sudanese capital worsening amidst assaults, robberies
The security situation in the capital, Khartoum, is worsening, according to Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan.
“People in various residential neighbourhoods also reported that the RSF have carried out assaults and robberies in many houses and in commercial areas,” said Morgan, reporting from Khartoum
The Ministry of İnterior, which is responsible for the security and for police movements in the capital, said it was unable to carry out its duties as the RSF was now in control of the ministry’s building.
“They said their personnel were not able to move and that when they tried to act they were shot at … So this fighting is causing a security breakdown in the capital Khartoum,” said Morgan.
Adding to the chaotic situation, there has been a prison break in all five prisons of the city leading to the release of more than 20,000 inmates now roaming the streets of Khartoum.
