Uzbekistan extends lifeline to Palestinians with new social support decree
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree to provide ongoing social care and support for Palestinians living in the country, marking a significant step in humanitarian assistance and social inclusion.
The legislation ensures that elderly Palestinians without sufficient work history will receive a state pension, while working-age residents — excluding those with first- or second-degree disabilities — will benefit from a monthly allowance equivalent to the minimum cost of living, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Families will also be reimbursed for housing rental expenses, and one-off payments will be provided for childbirth or funeral costs, in line with amounts granted to Uzbek citizens.
In addition, each household will receive a one-off allowance to cover essential non-food items, and a social worker will be assigned to every family at the local community level (mahalla) to provide personalised guidance and support.
Officials emphasise that the decree reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to the welfare and integration of its Palestinian residents.
