Trump to Iranians: Keep protesting, take over your institutions!
U.S. President Donald Trump said he had cancelled all meetings with Iranian officials until violence against protesters in Iran comes to an end, citing what he described as a continued repression by the authorities.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said diplomatic engagement with Tehran would remain on hold while demonstrators were being targeted.
"Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING - TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!!"
At least 12,000 people have been killed in Iran over two nights of nationwide protests, according to verified reports. Eyewitness accounts and medical staff reports suggest many victims were under 30, amid a sweeping media blackout and communications shutdown.
Iran International said its editorial team verified the figures through multiple sources, including insiders close to the Supreme National Security Council, presidential office officials, members of the IRGC in Mashhad, Kermanshah, and Isfahan, as well as eyewitnesses, victims’ families, and field reports.
