Ukrainian president picks ex-digital transformation head as defence chief

The president of Ukraine has put forward Mykhailo Fedorov as the candidate for the post of defence minister, following his dismissal as minister of digital transformation, parliament member Yaroslav Zheleznyak has reported.
The nomination will next be reviewed by the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on National Security, after which a vote is scheduled in the parliamentary chamber.
The decision is set to be the final item on the January 13 agenda.

Earlier, Ukraine's parliament approved the resignations of Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal, head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Malyuk, and Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
