Ukraine strikes Russian port of Olya, targets Shahed drone components
The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with other defence units, carried out a fire strike on the port of Olya in Russia’s Astrakhan region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military reported that the port serves as a critical logistics hub for Russian military supplies from Iran, including components for Shahed-type drones and ammunition.
During the strike, the vessel Port Olya 4 was hit. Preliminary information indicates that the ship was transporting Shahed drone parts and Iranian-made ammunition, though the full extent of the damage is still being clarified.
This strike follows a previous attack on the port in April 2025. Ukrainian defence forces stated that they will continue operations aimed at weakening Russia’s military capabilities and ending its armed aggression.
The port of Olya, situated south of Astrakhan in the Volga Delta within the Limansky District, handles both military and civilian cargo, including rolled metal, grain, equipment, and other goods. This year, a customs point was established to process containers, general cargo, oils, and grain.
Separately, on the night of August 14, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces and the Main Intelligence Directorate, together with other components of Ukraine’s defence forces, struck the Volgograd oil refinery, LLC Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka.
