Selena Gomez sued by investors over mental health startup

Singer and actor Selena Gomez was sued Thursday, August 13, by investors who accuse her of fraud and failing to fulfil commitments to build and promote Wondermind Global, a mental health startup she helped launch.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Delaware, says the plaintiffs invested nearly $1.2 million in Wondermind Global, which was launched in 2021 to help users strengthen their “mental fitness.”

According to the complaint, investors were told Gomez, who has more than 500 million followers on social media, would play an active role in developing the company as its head of marketing. The plaintiffs allege that Gomez and other company executives failed to deliver on promises that included developing a mobile app.

“Gomez purported to sign a contract obligating her to perform and then ignored it,” the lawsuit said.

The plaintiffs also allege that the company was struggling financially and operationally despite the representations made to investors.

“There was no legitimate enterprise in the works, much less a lucrative one,” the plaintiffs said, alleging that Wondermind failed to meet “even its most basic obligations, such as timely paying its employees and vendors.”

The investors said they were unaware of the company’s problems until an online news report detailed them in September 2025.

They are seeking to recover their investments, as well as legal fees.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
