Senior Georgian, US officials meet to reset relations
A meeting was held in Washington between Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia and Brendan Hanrahan, a senior official at the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Facebook.
According to the ministry, the talks took place at the US Department of State as part of Darsalia’s working visit to Washington. The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States, Tamar Taliashvili, and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Sonata Coulter.
“During the meeting, held at the U.S. Department of State, the parties discussed key issues related to bilateral relations. The Georgian side once again underscored its readiness to reset relations with the United States and emphasised the importance of renewing the strategic partnership. The discussions also addressed ongoing developments in the region and prospects for cooperation with Georgia. The U.S. side reaffirmed its unconditional support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement said.
