Sensitive military information on India’s S-400 systems leaked to Pakistan

30 July 2024 01:03

BaumankaLeaks has unveiled a detailed inventory of sophisticated military equipment ordered by India from Russia, following a significant data breach.

Has Pakistan obtained sensitive information about India’s S-400 anti-aircraft systems, including details on their number, missile inventory, and deployment locations? Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.

This question has gained prominence amid allegations of classified data leaks potentially linked to hacking activities.

Reports suggest that a security breach known as “BaumankaLeaks” occurred on July 15. This incident followed a notable diplomatic confrontation, where India’s Ministry of Home Affairs summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to address President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s criticism of a meeting between Indian President Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy’s remarks came in the wake of reports alleging that a Russian missile had struck the Okhmatdit children’s hospital.

The “BaumankaLeaks” have revealed detailed information about India’s S-400 anti-aircraft systems, including specifics on radars, launchers, command posts, and missiles acquired through their significant agreement with Russia. This sensitive data emerged following the hacking of email accounts belonging to Lieutenant Colonels Zakrutny and Potapov, who are affiliated with Almaz-Antey, the Russian company responsible for developing and producing the S-400 system. An email from Vladimir Chervakov, head of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Systems Department at BMTU, contained an attachment that outlined all the ordered equipment.

If the authenticity of BaumankaLeaks is confirmed, it means that Pakistan now has access to detailed information not only about the scope of India’s air defense agreement with Russia—information that was previously public—but also about the specific quantities of munitions involved, representing a significant breach of sensitive military data.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of the arsenal reportedly acquired by India:

- 120 surface-to-air missiles [48N6E3] with a range of 250 km, plus five training versions.

- 120 surface-to-air missiles [48N6E2] with a 200 km range, and five training missiles.

- 120 surface-to-air missiles [40N6E] with a reach of 400 km, along with five training missiles.

- 480 surface-to-air missiles [9M96E2] with a range of 120 km, plus five training models.

The inventory also includes 50 5T58E2 rocket transporter semi-trailers and 15 mobile cranes for handling the 22T6E2 rockets.

These documents not only specify the munitions ordered by India and promised by Russia but also provide a comprehensive overview of the entire weapons systems, offering a level of detail that is unusual in Russian arms export agreements.

BaumankaLeaks reveals that India has ordered a range of advanced military equipment from Russia, which includes:

- 5 55K6E command posts for strategic operations.

- 5 91N6E Big Bird radars, each with a 600 km range.

- 5 Yu7-24T command post radio antennas.

- 10 Yu7-24V launch radio antennas.

- 10 15Ya6ME transponders.

- 10 92N6E Grave Stone radars, each with an approximate 400 km range for missile guidance and target tracking.

- 20 5P85T3E semi-trailer launchers.

- 20 8×8 51P6E mobile launchers.

- 10 semi-mobile turrets equipped with 92N6E radars.

- 10 96L6E2 slow-rotation surveillance radars with a 300 km range.

These details underscore the sophistication and scale of the military assets involved in the deal.
