Serbian president takes dig at Austrian media regarding possibly running for office again "I'm not a dictator"
Serbia's President Aleksandar Vučić has rebutted rumours that he could run in the next presidential election.
He spoke on this matter during a press conference following his meeting with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Schneider, Caliber.Az reports citing Serbian media outlets.
"We will see what the people say in the elections. I am a political veteran and I can no longer run for president, and it does not occur to me to change the Constitution in order to be able to," the president said.
He also took a direct hit at Austrian media representatives present at the event, which have previously painted Vučić as an authoritarian, stating "I am not a dictator, as they say in the Austrian media. I am ending my presidential career in a year and a half. Running for president again is impossible, and if I want to help and if I want to fight for someone, I will do that.
During the press event, the Serbian president also indicated that he does not rule out holding early parliamentary elections in the republic.
