Serbia foils sabotage plot targeting gas pipeline to Hungary
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that authorities had prevented a sabotage attempt against a key gas infrastructure link connecting Serbia and Hungary.
“Our units discovered a high-powered explosive device and detonators required for its activation near the pipeline,” Vučić said on Instagram, adding that the Hungarian side would be informed of further developments in the investigation. He also briefed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on the initial findings.
Following the call, Orbán said he had convened an emergency meeting of the defence council.
“Serbian authorities have uncovered a powerful explosive device and the means to activate it at a critical gas infrastructure facility linking Serbia and Hungary,” he wrote on Facebook.
