Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut faces no-confidence vote

24 July 2026 14:13

Serbia's National Assembly will vote on a no-confidence motion against the government of Prime Minister Đuro Macut on July 27, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić has announced.

In an interview with K1 television, she said if the government loses the vote of no confidence, a new cabinet must be formed within 30 days, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“If no new government is formed during that period, parliament will be dissolved. It is also possible that the parliamentary majority will express confidence in Mr. Macut's government, allowing it to continue its work," Brnabić noted.

Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić made it clear that he would keep his promise to announce the date of snap parliamentary elections in September or early October.

According to Vučić, elections for a new National Assembly will be held in October or November, while presidential elections will take place at a later date.
