Seven die after air ambulance crashes in eastern India video

24 February 2026 10:36

Seven people were killed after a chartered air ambulance crashed on the night of February 23 in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, according to foreign media reports, citing authorities.

Emergency responders and medical teams were dispatched to the crash site, located in a densely forested area.

India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reported that the Beechcraft C90 aircraft, operated by Redbird Airways, had requested a route deviation due to adverse weather conditions while travelling from Ranchi to Delhi.

The plane lost contact with air traffic control 23 minutes after departing at 7:11 p.m. local time (13:41 GMT) and subsequently crashed in the Kasaria region of the state.

Local media, citing eyewitness accounts, reported that residents heard a loud explosion before seeing smoke rising from the heavily wooded area. Images released from the scene showed the wreckage of the aircraft scattered among leaves and debris as rescue teams searched the site.

“There were seven persons on board, including two crew members,” the DGCA said in a statement posted on social media.

Local administrative official Keerthishree G told reporters that medical personnel located the victims and confirmed all had died at the scene.

State authorities believe the aircraft may have lost control due to turbulence. Investigators from India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau have been dispatched to examine the crash.
