Seventeen Russians injured in Phuket boat collision, one child killed
Seventeen Russian citizens injured in a boat accident off the coast of Thailand’s Phuket island remain in hospital, including two who are in intensive care, Russia’s Consul General in Phuket Yegor Ivanov said.
The accident occurred when a tourist boat collided with a fishing vessel in the Andaman Sea. In total, 23 Russian nationals were injured in the crash, and one Russian woman born in 2008 was killed, the consul general said, Caliber.Az reports per TASS.
According to Russian officials, there were 33 Russian citizens on board the boat, along with passengers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other countries. Thai police in Phuket and Krabi have launched an investigation into the incident.
Thai media outlet Thairath said that the collision occurred at around 04:55 local time. TASS said the excursion was organised by Korawich Marine 888, a company whose boats have previously been involved in accidents.
