Several EU states block new anti-Russia sanctions
06 October 2022 13:55
A journalist for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) Rikard Jozwiak has said that several countries of the European Union, except Hungary, had blocked the eighth package of sanctions against Russia.
“Hungary normally gets the blame [and rightly so] when it comes to watering down the EU's sanctions against Russia but for this package honourable mentions Cyprus, Malta, Belgium and Greece. Budapest is truly learning from the best in Brussels,” RBC-Ukraine quotes Jozwiak’s tweet as saying on October 6.
On October 5, the EU countries agreed on the eighth package of sanctions against Russia. Details and a full list of restrictions are to be announced on October 6.
