Severe monsoon flooding kills over 30 in Pakistan, displaces thousands
01 September 2025 17:10
At least 33 people have died in Pakistan over the past week as severe monsoon rains triggered widespread flooding, officials say.
The floods struck between August 23 to 31, leaving another eight people injured and affecting nearly two million residents, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
According to Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), rescue teams have evacuated around 760,000 people and moved more than half a million livestock to safer areas.
Authorities have also set up more than 500 relief camps to shelter displaced families.
Flooding is a recurring threat during Pakistan’s monsoon season, which often causes heavy damage to infrastructure, homes and farmland.
