Shelling in central Kherson claims one life
Early on the morning of January 7, Russian forces shelled the centre of Ukraine’s Kherson region, leaving one man dead.
Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the regional military administration, confirmed the fatality, adding that the victim’s identity is still being established.
Earlier, Russia launched a large-scale aerial assault on Ukraine, deploying 95 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and a single ballistic missile, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
Preliminary assessments indicate that Ukrainian air defence systems successfully intercepted or electronically disrupted the missile and 81 of the UAVs over the country’s northern, central, and eastern regions.
Despite these measures, 14 strike drones breached defences and struck targets across eight locations. Debris from the intercepted aerial threats was also reported at five additional sites.
