Shooting at Colorado high school leaves at least three minors injured PHOTO
At least three minors were injured in a shooting at Evergreen High School in Colorado on Wednesday, according to local authorities.
CNN reports that the first 911 call alerting police to an active shooter came at 12:24 p.m. local time.
The shooting occurred outside the school building, though investigators are still working to determine whether any incidents also took place inside.
Two of the victims and the alleged shooter are being treated at St. Anthony Hospital, the facility’s CEO Kevin Callinan confirmed. The suspected gunman, believed to be a student at the school, is in critical condition.
Sheriff’s department spokesperson Jacki Kelley said the suspect, a minor, suffered injuries, but clarified that law enforcement officers did not fire shots. Authorities have not yet confirmed how the suspect was wounded. Investigators are seeking a warrant to search the suspect’s home.
Kelley added that investigators plan to interview multiple students who witnessed the events to piece together what happened at the school, which has an enrollment of about 900 students.
Local police and school authorities have urged families to remain calm while the investigation continues.
