Shooting at US Concord tree lighting ceremony leaves four injured
A shooting erupted during Concord’s annual tree lighting ceremony, sending shockwaves through the festive crowd and prompting an immediate emergency response.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Union Street South, near the intersection with Corban Avenue, while the city’s festive event was underway, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Concord Police, along with Concord Fire and Cabarrus County EMS personnel, were present at the ceremony and responded immediately, providing medical assistance and evacuating attendees from the scene.
Four individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital. Three remain in critical condition, while one is reported to be stable.
Police have begun reviewing footage from the event and are conducting interviews with multiple witnesses as part of an ongoing investigation. No suspects have yet been identified.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
