Shusha to host international film festival of Turkic world

The international film festival of the Turkic world Korkut Ata (Dede Gorgud) will be held in Azerbaijan's Shusha city in 2023.

Türkiye's Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan made the announcement this week, Report informs, citing the Turkish media.

"Our goal within the framework of the festival is to create a basis for joint production, award new films within the framework of the competition and bring together the ministers of the Turkic republics. The festival that we organise in the cultural capital of the Turkic world - Bursa [for this year], next year will be held in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha. This will serve to create co-production films based on our common heritage," the minister said.

Preparations are underway for the Korkut Ata Film Festival of the Turkic World, which will be held on November 1-5 for the second time this year in the city of Bursa, Türkiye.

The festival, which will be organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkiye with the support of many institutions and organizations, including the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, will bring together many professional film and cultural figures from the Turkic republics and communities.

Twenty-two cinema specialists from Azerbaijan, 43 from Uzbekistan, 23 from Kyrgyzstan, 21 from Kazakhstan, five from Turkmenistan and 17 from autonomous republics will participate in the festival. About 200 guests, including well-known producers, directors, screenwriters and actors from the Turkic film industry, will participate in the festival.
