Trump plans to cut funding for cities protecting illegal migrants
The US authorities are preparing a document that would allow the cessation of federal funding for any city in the country that acts as a sanctuary for illegal migrants.
“No more Sanctuary Cities! They protect the Criminals, not the Victims," President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social, Caliber.Az reports.
"They are disgracing our Country and are being mocked all over the World. Working on papers to withhold all Federal Funding for any City or State that allows these Death Traps to exist!!!,” he stressed.
Note that, on April 5, tens of thousands gathered across the United States for nationwide protests against President Donald Trump and top adviser Elon Musk. The protests, organized by over 150 groups, were part of a series of “Hands Off” rallies held in all 50 states.
Demonstrators voiced opposition to the Trump administration’s policies, including federal agency dismantling, sweeping tariffs, and perceived violations of due process.
In Washington, D.C., where the crowd grew to an estimated 100,000, protesters gathered at the National Mall, chanting against the president's approach to issues such as public health, immigration, and civil rights. Similar protests took place in cities from Boston to Los Angeles, with participants donning Statue of Liberty costumes and waving anti-Trump flags.
Organizers hoped the protests would mark the largest anti-Trump demonstrations since his return to office. The event was a response to what participants see as a broader push by the administration and its allies to undermine democratic institutions and rights, including healthcare, abortion rights, and social security.
The White House postponed spring garden tours due to the scale of the event, while police closed streets around the National Mall to manage the swelling crowd. Political groups, including MoveOn.org and Women’s March, emphasized the growing national opposition to Trump and Musk’s influence on American politics.
