Vucic to dissolve Serbia’s parliament on September 9 Snap election set for October 25

09 September 2026 09:33

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says he will dissolve parliament on September 9 and call an early parliamentary election for October 25.

Vucic said he would approve two decrees – one dissolving the current National Assembly and another formally calling the election, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“I will announce both decisions tomorrow at noon. The election will be held on October 25,” he told Radio Television Serbia.

Prime Minister Djuro Macut submitted a proposal to Vucic on 7 September to dissolve parliament, a necessary step before an early election can be held.

Earlier, Serbian Progressive Party leader Milos Vucevic said Vucic would head the party’s list in the parliamentary election and be its candidate for prime minister.
