Six killed, 10 injured in tanker crash in India's Karnataka
At least six people, including a child and three women, were killed and 10 others injured after a speeding tanker struck the vehicle they were travelling in from behind in India’s southern state of Karnataka, a local police officer confirmed on Saturday, May 16.
The accident occurred on Friday evening, May 15, as the victims were on their way to offer prayers at a local temple. Following the collision, the tractor they were travelling in fell off a bridge, resulting in multiple casualties, as per foreign media reports.
All of the victims were residents of Karnataka’s Ballari district.
Police said the bodies of all six victims have been recovered, while those injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The tanker driver has been arrested and charged with negligence and rash driving.
