Sky News: European leaders stand with Ukraine at “critical stage” “The destiny of Ukraine is destiny of Europe”

Leaders from the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Ukraine met in London on December 8, stressing the importance of continued support for Ukraine amid ongoing conflict and international negotiations.

Arriving at Downing Street for talks, the leaders posed for photographs ahead of discussions aimed at strengthening coordination between Kyiv, Europe and the United States, Caliber.Az reports, citing Sky News.

Sir Keir Starmer said: "Matters for Ukraine are for Ukraine" as he described today’s negotiations as a "critical stage of the push for peace".

Volodymyr Zelenskyy added: "Things that are very important for today are... unity between Europe, Ukraine and US."

He thanked his allies for organising the meeting, saying: "I think it is very important to organise such meetings." He also noted that the four of them have "important decisions" to make today.

French President Emmanuel Macron said: "The Russian economy is starting to suffer, especially after our latest sanctions." He added: "We all support Ukraine and we all support peace."

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz acknowledged he is "sceptical about some of the details in documents coming from the US", but stressed that was the purpose of the gathering.

He said: "This could be a decisive time for all of us, so we are trying to continue our support for Ukraine... the destiny of this country [Ukraine] is the destiny of Europe."
