Slovak PM was shot by 71-year-old writer - media

Today, in the Slovak city of Gandlov, an attempt was made on the life of the head of the government of the republic, Robert Fico. At that time, an unknown man shot several times at the Prime Minister after he went out to talk to people at the end of a government retreat.

According to the latest reports, Fico was wounded in the chest and abdomen. He was urgently taken by helicopter to a hospital in Banska Bystrica. They write that this is a fairly well-known 71-year-old writer in the country and a supporter of the opposition radical left party Progressive Slovakia, Juraj Cintula. Earlier, Slovak media reported that the attacker was from the local town of Levice. His motives are still unknown.
