Small aircraft crashes in southeast Brazil, one dead, seven injured VIDEO
A small aircraft crashed and exploded near Cruzeiro Beach in the tourist city of Ubatuba, São Paulo state, on January 9, leaving one person dead and seven others injured, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred as the pilot attempted to land at Ubatuba Regional Airport but was unable to reduce the aircraft's speed. The plane broke through the airport's security fence before crashing onto the nearby promenade, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The pilot, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four passengers aboard the aircraft, including two adults and two children, were rescued alive by emergency responders. Three additional individuals sustained injuries while on the promenade at Cruzeiro Beach, local fire officials reported.
Rede Voa, the concessionaire managing Ubatuba Regional Airport, stated that adverse weather conditions, including rain and a wet runway, contributed to the accident.
The Brazilian Air Force has deployed experts from the Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents to examine the site and determine the cause of the crash.
