Eyewitnesses reported thick smoke rising from the Bapco oil refinery in Bahrain on Monday, Reuters reports.
According to witnesses, the smoke appeared after the government announced casualties and damage in the Sitra area caused by an attack from an Iranian drone.
The Bapco company, Bahrain’s main oil refinery, subsequently declared force majeure on its supplies, The Guardian reports.
The refinery is a key facility in Bahrain’s energy sector and the country’s sole oil processing plant.
