Some 23,000 people missing due to war in Ukraine

About 23,000 people are considered missing as a result of the war in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Internal Ministry has launched a unified register of missing persons "under special circumstances," said Deputy Interior Minister Leonid Timchenko, Kommersant reports.
The department clarified that the launched registry is a secure database, and relatives of the missing can receive extracts from it.
In December 2022, Commissioner for Ukrainian President for ensuring the rights of the military Alyona Verbitskaya mentioned about 15,000 missing people. She supposed that some of them could leave Russian-controlled territories.
According to her, among them were civilians.
