Some ten oil tankers pass through Strait of Hormuz amid tensions
11 March 2026 13:41
Around 10 oil tankers are currently navigating the Strait of Hormuz, according to vessel-tracking service MarineTraffic.
The tankers carry petroleum products under various national flags, highlighting the strategic importance of the waterway, through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil passes.
The movement comes amid warnings from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which stated earlier this week that it would block even “one litre of oil” from leaving the region if US-Israeli attacks continue.
Oil shipments from the Middle East have been effectively disrupted since the US-Israeli strikes on Iran 11 days ago, contributing to a sharp rise in global oil prices and increased market volatility.
