Son of Israeli war cabinet minister dies during dead hostages recovery operation in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces announced on December 12 that they have recovered the bodies of two Israeli hostages from inside the underground Hamas tunnels in Gaza.

As reported by the Times of Israel, the bodies of civilian Eden Zacharia and IDF Warrant Officer Ziv Dado, who were taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, were found in a tunnel near the home of Ahmed Ghandour, the former commander of Hamas’s northern Gaza Brigade who was recently killed.

Zacharia, 27, was taken hostage from the Supernova music festival yet it is unclear whether she died during the attack or at a later date. Dado, 36, a logistics supervisor in the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion, was killed during the October 7 onslaught. A funeral for Dado had already been held on October 25, as he was declared a "fallen soldier held by a terror group."

During the body recovery operation, the son of Israel's war cabinet minister Gadi Eisenkot, a sergeant, was killed.
