South Korea to provide humanitarian assistance to Iran, Lebanon
South Korea has announced that it has provided $2 million in humanitarian assistance to Lebanon through international organizations and has also decided to extend $500,000 in aid to Iran via the International Red Cross, AP reports.
Seoul’s Foreign Ministry said that it hopes the assistance will help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in affected regions.
This decision came during the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ special envoy mission to Iran. Diplomatic circles are paying attention to whether a positive atmosphere for negotiations with Iran will be created.
This is the second time South Korea has decided to provide humanitarian aid related to the Middle East situation, following last month’s decision for Lebanon (worth $2 million).
“We hope this aid will help alleviate the humanitarian situation in the affected regions,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
