Soviet officer of Ukrainian origin becomes Wagner boss in Belarus

After the transfer of "Wagnerites" to Belarus’ Mogilev region, they were headed by a native of Ukraine, Sergei Chubko.

The Ukrainian news site Nasha Niva reports that 46-year-old Sergei Chubko was born in Chervontsy in southwestern Ukraine.

After the collapse of the USSR, he moved to Russia. In 1994, he joined the Russian Armed Forces and fought in Chechnya.

In January 2017. Chubko joined Wagner and went to Syria, where he became the head of the PMC's military operation. After that, in 2019, he headed the new headquarters of the "Wagnerites" in Libya.
